Love At First Sight 2025

LAFS#10

BIRTHDAY EDITION

For the tenth anniversary of the Love At First Sight Festival, we dove into the LAFS archives together. With plenty of nostalgic moments, we looked back in wonder and excitement at all the beauty that has graced our stages over the past ten editions of LAFS. We noticed that a striking number of artists have since grown into established voices within the performing arts scene.

LAFS#10 is a celebratory edition in which a number of these makers are invited to return to the festival with more recent work. There’s also space for several new names, and of course, for connection, debate, and celebration.

From Thursday, December 11 through Sunday, December 14, De Studio, hetpaleis, c o r s o, Monty, Toneelhuis, De Theatermaker, and Arenberg will present five double bills pairing “established” artists with emerging voices.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the amazing artists, crew members, hosts, volunteers, and staff from all the participating organizations—for ten unforgettable years together.

It’s still love at first, second, …, tenth sight. <3

reste(s) – Alphonse Eklou Uwantege

A name, a body, a story that won’t let go.
reste(s) is a ritual. A tribute to Alphonse Kanimba—the maker’s uncle—who was killed during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
What remains of a person? And what do we carry with us, even when we don’t choose to?
reste(s) explores the legacy of loss, trauma, and the silence passed on through generations. Through dance, voice, and whispers, a conversation unfolds—with the dead, with ghosts that refuse to fade.
A solo performance about heritage and family ties that can both support and suffocate. About memories that root themselves in the body.
What do we inherit, and what do we release?
And most of all: who do we mean when we say “we”?

reste(s) by Alphonse Eklou Uwantege can be found at Love At First Sight on Thursday 11 December at the Monty in Antwerp. Tickets are available here.
